The God Please Clean My Room Project’s (Daily Wash)

As news to some and a reminder to others, God has blessed me with the vision to carry out “The God Please Clean My Room Project”.  This started with a book based on a childhood memory which has since spun into the creation of a complementary curriculum, coloring book, and now the “Daily Wash”.  This evening I completed my second “Daily Wash” and have posted both days #1 and #2 for your inspiration.

I pray that you be encouraged and motivated.  May God Bless!

Temporary Idleness

I woke up yesterday with the title for this piece on my mind: “Temporary Idleness”. Like I literally woke up and as usual the wheels in my brain were turning, and this phrase came to mind.

As a woman who is constantly moving and working to “make” things happen,
I struggle with waiting. Or as my husband says, “There’s nothing wrong with being still, just relax;” we both know that this is problematic for me.

Once you reach a certain age you realize that there are moments when you have done absolutely everything possible within a given situation, and there is nothing left to do, but rest, or as we, believers call it, to “wait on the Lord”.

This is hard for me as a “control freak”. Raise your hand if you can relate. I mean my given sorority name isn’t “The Dictator” for no reason. ; ). Though it’s taken me a while to accept its truth, I was a natural born/raised leader.

In my youth/young adulthood, if I walked into a seemingly chaotic situation, I would take over because I dislike disorder. In my maturity, which is developing daily, I realize that one can become easily burn-out and negatively labeled as bossy with such traits.

What does this mean?

In some instances even though you may believe you have the answer, sometimes it is not your turn.

In other words, there are other kids waiting for their chance on the merry-go-round, so step off and let them have their turn.

This may feel like idleness for a worker-bee, but it is in fact a break, a much needed vacation, a gift from God that should be graciously accepted without guilt and without regrets.

So take a rest Child! I promise this is only a season of temporary idleness given to you by God, despite what it looks like in the physical realm.

God has not forgot, so stop your worrying ; )

The vision will be fulfilled at an appointed time (see Habakkuk 2)!

God Bless You Friend and know that you are loved!

God First!

Are you easily set off by the attitudes or emotions of others?

If so, it’s time for a change!

Temperance is something to be achieved by making a choice to practice it everyday and making a personal decision to plant positive seeds into your heart before allowing any negative force to attempt to place a claim on it at the beginning of each day.

Philippians 4:7 says, “and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding , will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Taking this into consideration, I ask that you take a moment to reflect. What are you doing to invite Christ to guard your heart?

Are you passive or active in your faith?

Have you been handed down a religion based upon tradition where you attend church because your mother told you to do so? Do you say grace before a meal out of habit and say your prayers to God at night like He’s a magic genie ready to be at your beckoned call?

If so, it’s time for a change!

You are truly doing a disservice to yourself if you don’t activate faith in your life. It’s like playing a game of spades with the highest card in your hand and not playing it, “just because”. In other words it’s time to use what you’ve got and get busy!

Do you want to be miserable or do you want to be happy? You may choose to be angry about the co-worker who snapped at you or the person who cut you off while you were driving this morning if you like ; ), but I hope you will choose happiness.

Be happy by meeting with your Heavenly Father at the beginning of your day. Be happy by writing Him love-notes and telling Him exactly how you feel. Don’t worry, it’s only human to feel apprehensive about writing to a God whom you can’t see (physically) at first, but I promise if you pursue Him, He will make His presence known to you in more ways than your basic five senses could ever desire.

Start tomorrow. Break out your journal. Put God first!

May God Bless You & Keep You!

Lord keep me from Self-Sabotage

The title of this post came from a simple prayer I sent up this past weekend.

Amazingly, I have been blessed to meet a lot of people who are doing great things during this new season of my life.

Consequently, I have been exposed to a number of opportunities-this week alone. With that being said, they all appear to be fabulous – talkin’ bedazzled with the rhinestone on top. ; )

But how many of you know “all that glitters ain’t gold”, or as Mark deRoux has been noted to say, and I paraphrase, even if you are doing “good” things, if God didn’t will for you to do them, they become sinful because they are keeping you from doing His perfect will.

Wow. Meditate on that for a few seconds.

I know this to be true. Because of my personality, I am automatically attracted to a lot of things, and function best with more than one thing on my plate – yet, even with my multiple talents and interests, there is still such a thing known as “doing too much”.

And to recognize when I am juggling too many things, it is important for me to:

#1 Pray to achieve God’s will.
#2 Pray for discernment.
#3 Have patience.
#4 Listen for that still, small voice (Yes, He still speaks this way ; )
#5 Be obedient.
#6 Block out all naysayers ( Even your Momma – love you!)
#7 Just do it already-on His terms!
#8 Humble yourself at all times by exalting Him.
#9 When others praise you, lift Him up and give Him the Glory!
#10 Take Action!

*Ready. Set. Go!

God Bless You Love!

I can’t take yours and you can’t take mine

“What God has for me, it is for me.”

This is a gospel song that was popular in the 90’s, and I’m finding that many of us need to be reminded that this notion is, still and will always be, relevant.

Let’s put this into context, being a young go-getter, I love seeking information and knowledge. I love sharing it just the same.

I believe that the impartation and receipt of knowledge from multiple sources is where we find our strength, but i have discovered that far too many people in this world do not feel the same way. My Bestie, Kendra and I often discuss our frustrations with people who hoard information; as though God doesn’t own the entire heavens and earth. In case you’re confused, allow me to explain further.

Like it or not, there is no such thing as a “self-made” individual. Yes, I am familiar with the impeccable stories of the orphan who was left to die of starvation who grew up “without any handouts” and climbed the ladder to entrepreneurial success. Yet, I assure you that even he and she ; ) did not make it this far alone, someone has extended them an opportunity. Even if we reflect on the first person that purchased a product from them – that still counts as an opportunity. For the old adage that says, “No man is an island, entire of itself,” is ever so true yesterday, today, and forever. So, please do not take this for granted. And while we all need each other, it is important to realize that in our sharing, I can never take what God has for you, just like you could never take what God has for me. He has more than enough for all of us.

So impart and seek some knowledge today.

“The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” ~Proverbs 18:15 NKJV

Jump out the Box!

It’s been a long time since I have blogged (probably 2 weeks…I don’t know I’ve lost track.)  I have been seemingly busy with preparing for my May 6th graduation, which means trying to stay on top of my portfolio, complete my internship responsibilities, be a good research team member, etc.  Outside of grad-school, I have been preparing for an upcoming event, trying to be a good wife, trying to launch and manage a mentoring organization, pondering my future (where will I be working next year, looks like I won’t be starting a Ph.D. just yet, will I have a baby, what else can I do for my business and for Jerrell’s business?)

I promise this list could go on for days.  Be glad that I stopped when I did ; )

I am what the world would probably refer to as a jack-of-all trades, a term that I absolutely loathe.

I prefer to think of myself as something like a …

Creative Specialist

(shying away from the term Master

Creator – I believe that’s

reserved by Almighty God…

just love Him BTW).

Anyway, I hate boxes. You know those big boxes that people like to categorize people in.  I hate them for the mere fact that I simply just won’t fit.  Yeah that’s right.  Please don’t mistake my confidence for concete (see I can’t even spell it…conceit j/k ; ) or narcissism, I promise it’s simply self-love + faith in God that constantly reminds me, I can, in-fact, do all things through Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13), and guess what….

SO CAN YOU!

Yes you can!  God believes in you.  And I have a whole team that believes in you too!  And so does your inner circle.  So what are you waiting on?  Kick the lid off of that box and just do it already!  Whatever “it” is.

I love you much!  And would love to talk to you, and even pray for you with my team, but we can only know what you need if you submit your prayer requests.  Hit me up.  God Bless!
