I was Brushing my Teeth & Painting my Nails

This morning I was brushing my teeth and all of a sudden I had the nerve to try to paint my nails. This occurrence only brought me to realize that this action is impossible with only two hands. For every moment that I attempted to touch the polish, I was no longer brushing my teeth. This action provided a perfect metaphor about the detriment in “so-called” multi-tasking.

And yes as I exist in modern society as you do, I know that the art of multi-tasking is a notion that is ever-present, but it is not conducive to the ability to making adequate progress. Even something as simple as watching television while trying to type a paper on your computer is ineffective. You are hindered from focusing completely on either task.

If you have a long laundry list of goals that you desire to complete, realize today that focusing on one and one only at a time, will allow you to make more immediate gains and see fruit versus only the planting of several seeds.

If you have a brain like me, you are blessed to have tons of new ideas and projects on your mind daily. Well, I recall once hearing the Holy Spirit say, “All ideas are not for today, I have given you food so that you can eat for a lifetime.” This translates as, WRITE IT DOWN and WRITE IT DOWN AGAIN!

Most recently one of my best girlfriends reminded me that it was time for me to start some new vision boards, so that I could keep God’s vision for my new seasons directly in front of me.

My life is a clear testament to Habakkuk 2:2-4 (NLV) which tells us:

2 Then the Lord answered me and said, “Write down the special dream on stone so that one may read it in a hurry. 3 For it is not yet time for it to come true. The time is coming in a hurry, and it will come true. If you think it is slow in coming, wait for it. For it will happen for sure, and it will not wait. 4 As for the proud one, his soul is not right in him. But the one who is right and good will live by his faith.

With the proper tools in place, nothing can keep you from accomplishing the will of God for your life!

So go ahead, what are you waiting for choose the task that you are ordained to complete to day, and RUN FOR IT!

Blessings & Peace my Friends!

The “Dream”

Keep Moving!

Keep Moving!

I was in a setting with a group of people who I don’t care to deal with much anymore.  The individual in charge was waiting on someone to preach, but it was apparent that this person was never going to show up.  The individual in charge was looking at me indicating that she wanted me to preach.  And I was ready because God placed an apparent sermon in my heart, but I needed to search for a scripture.

Well as I began to search, apparently some of my peers were growing restless so someone finally blurted out one.  Though I knew I could make it work, it is important to note that at the same time the scripture was blurted out, I knew what subject to search for my scripture under.  I tried to yell over the crowd to the individual in charge, but I made no effort to search for it myself, I just used what was provided.

I should also say that a couple of friends who I view as an awesome support system were present .  Either way, there was a very small crowd, as a matter of fact, I am unable to recall any residents of the facility present.  The chapel was designed differently.  Instead of there being a wall beside the exit doors, there was a big black curtain serving as a partition.

Back to the sermon, the word that God gave me was so powerful; yet I had to fight my way through some serious physical challenges to get it out.  I was badly congested, so much until I was sniffing in the mic the entire time.  I was coughing, taking huge gasps of air, and apologizing in between.  Either way, the people who were at odds with me began to act inappropriately, collectively got up, and exited the room just as I was reaching the climax of my sermon.  They also did so very noisily.

In front of the partition it appeared as though “they” were the crowd and that only two or three remained.  For some reason the Holy Spirit had me walk to the back of the room where the opening of the partition was before my peers walked out so that I might preach at the rear of the room.  Over time, a huge crowd drew beyond the partition as though there were no walls in the lobby of this facility.

I mean there were masses and masses of people coming to hear me preach, as though the city was coming.  There were people of all ethnicities and age ranges thirsting to hear this direct Word of God.

At the end of the dream, the Holy Spirit interpreted, “if you wait to respond to the people you can see (such as the “firefighters” who come to put out your passion – phrase coined by John C. Maxwell) who do not support you, you will miss out on all of the people I sent you for (clearly thousands)!

Stay focused my friends!  God shall not be mocked! Whatever arena God has called you to “minister” in this life, never allow immediate gratification or approval of others to determine your obedience and effectiveness.  Now let’s go!

Blessings & Peace.

More Than Conquerors

Have you been wishing away a particular circumstance?

Maybe you have a job that you hate or loathe? Perhaps you are in a relationship that you have been asking for God to rescue you from?

Well my Brothers & My Sisters, I am here today to bring you some good news!

God sent me to tell you that you will in fact be rescued today! Praise The Lord & Hallelujah!

Now what does this require? This first requires that you conquer your present situation.

I know, not the answer you were looking for, but it is the truth.

Let today be the day you take action! How can we say that we want God to elevate us in our lives, yet we refuse to conquer the present circumstance He has placed us in to work currently?

How do you spend your days? Do you wake up in dread? Do you feel sick just thinking about your situation? Well then, stop, embrace what lies ahead of you and move forward.

So what, the people on your job are negative and manipulative. Did you go in to become like them…or be a change agent for Christ? You say you want to be used by Him and that He can trust you…well then just do it already!

Maybe you know too much, perhaps your heart has been broken several times. So you’ve allowed the enemy to place you in bondage by crippling you to only see the four walls around you.

When did you forget that we are to walk by faith, not by sight? (2 Corinthians 5:7)

When did you forget that we are more than conquerors? (Romans 8:37)

Those who love you have had enough of your complaints, your worrying, and your lack of hope! (Matthew 6: 25-34)

It’s time you realized that in our weakness He is made strong! (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Lency Got Somethin’ to Say!

“Before anything became easy, it was hard.”

I originally saw this quote on the wall of an elementary school teacher’s classroom for gifted students.  I have been sharing it with kids ever since.

This quote is significant for adults to keep in mind as well.  Let’s face it!  How many of us have unconquered dreams that persist onward only in our minds, due to the fact that we tried to take the first step…

and fell/failed?

…Or so we thought.  Outside of anomalies in the human population, very few of us exited our mother’s wombs knowing how to do anything when first attempted.  To my critical thinkers out there…Yes I know that infants can grasp or grip with their hands, and gaze with their eyes immediately, but they must be taught/learn how to do everything else!  I believe if more adults were candid and transparent with young people about the struggles that they have faced and overcome in life, they could liberate so many young people who have come behind them…The ones who are still looking for those shoulders to stand on.

Who will you liberate today?

Below I have featured one of my most favorite poems that was introduced to me by my mother of course ; ) May it inspire you, as it continues to inspire me.

by Edgar A. Guest

Figure it out for yourself, my lad. You’ve all that the greatest of men have had, Two arms, two hands, two legs, two eyes, And a brain to use if you would be wise. With this equipment they all began, So start for the top and say, “I Can.”

Look them over, the wise and the great, They take their food from a common plate, And similar knives and forks they use, With similar laces they tie their shoes. The world considers them brave and smart, But you’ve all they had when they made their start.

You can triumph and come to skill, You can be great if you only will. You’re well equipped for what fight you choose, You have arms and legs and a brain to use. And the man who has risen great deeds to do, Began his life with no more than you.

You are the handicap you must face, You are the one who must choose your place, You must say where you want to go, How much you will study the truth to know. God has equipped you for life, but He Lets you decide what you want to be.

Courage must come from the soul within, The man must furnish the will to win. So figure it out for yourself, my lad, You were born with all the great have had, With your equipment they all began. Get hold of yourself, and say: “I Can.”
