As we embark upon the “Holiday Season” here in the U.S., I am mindful of the many individuals who are burdened with a lot of hurt and pain over loss. Loss of all sorts. Some of this loss can be in the form of deceased loved ones, past situations, and a variety of circumstances.
Keeping this in mind, I want to remind us that we are all members of one body…the body of Christ. Since we are all members of this one body, it is important that we remember to take care of each other and one another.
So, Don’t be so quick to dismiss the “grumpy old man” you pass by on the street, or the recluse who only comes out to get groceries every few months. This is the time when it will be very important, more than any other time to share Christ’s love and to be delicate with our neighbors’ hearts. I am most certain, that anyone who considers themself a follower of Christ, was not born with a chip on his or her shoulder. If anything, as life is happening to both me & you, it has happened to our brethren too. And while some of us are better at handling loss, or a shift in our circumstances, or constant change, there are others of us who may require a bit more assistance.
So you, who considers yourself strong enough to withstand various trials presently, why don’t you stand on the front line in this spiritual battle for your brother or sister today. Just in case you need a little inspiration, take a moment to reflect on the last time you were down and out and how someone had to come and give you a little pick-me-up and remind you of Christ’s love for you. I know, I know, it’s so easy for us to walk on by (believe me I’m working to get this thing myself), but it is far better to rely upon Christ’s strength to push you to be that friend that I know you can be today.
God Bless You With Love.
